Do you know a young person aged 12–18 with an eye for photography and a love of the local landscape?
MADEC’s Youth Empowerment Support Service (YESS) is proud to launch the Places & Spaces Photography Competition, inviting young people from Bowen to Sarina, including Collinsville, to showcase their creativity and connection to community.
Whether it’s a favourite park, a quiet street, a windswept beach, or the view from their backyard, entrants are encouraged to capture the places and spaces that inspire them. The competition aims to give young people a platform to express themselves and share how they see the world around them.
Exploring the Art of Photography
Up to 12 photographs will be selected for a public exhibition at Gordon White Library, Mackay, running from 1–30 September 2025. Thanks to the generous support of BB Print, selected entries will be professionally printed for display—giving young photographers the opportunity to see their work presented in a gallery-quality setting.
As an added bonus, the first prize winner will receive a Fujifilm Instax Mini camera, proudly sponsored by Garricks Camera House Mackay.

How to Enter
- Entry is free and open to young people aged 12–18 living between Bowen and Sarina, including Collinsville.
- Each entrant may submit one original landscape photograph (JPEG, minimum 2MB), along with a short caption (max 50 words).
